Monopoly Solitaire (Mobile Game) Art and Animation

I also rigged and animated all the Mr. Monopoly character animations used in game, using Spine 2-D

I made all the UI and in-game art for the game (featuring official assets provided by Hasbro). And all built on UX layouts and design work by the team. Keeping it unified and playful, but sophisticated was a challenge!

Throughout, I updated this spine rig to flesh out animations, flows, and design updates. This sequence was the most complex of many. When complete, they'd serve as a blueprint for production. This file had over 100 iterations, and 1000+ bones and assets.

Deal End Character and Flow Animations (Special thanks to my co-conspirator Dan Huynh, who made a clever UX animation and layouts this was closely based on)

these tutorial animations were an opportunity to inject some personality into the game

Not the cleanest rough , but a good example of how I go about planning character animations.

Some early explorations to find our take on Mr. Monopoly. The goal was to keep faithful to the modern 3-D design, but in a way that we could get appealing 2-D animated performances.

the earliest ftue expression explorations. chaining drawings into a rough animation helps ensure proportions are consistent - Timing and fluidity was secondary here (to be handled later in Spine), but this informed the work needed for the final art.

An example from behind the scenes. I aim for this kind of organization and clarity (time permitting) because it helps discussions and smooth integration.

another behind the scenes: I'd organize and update spreads like this while working on new features, to share ideas and questions for design to consider, and to ultimately refine decisions into a reference guide.

Monopoly Solitaire (Mobile Game) Art and Animation

For a year and half I worked as Lead artist for MobilityWare and Hasbro's "Monopoly Solitaire" from pre-production to world-wide release.

I had the great pleasure of setting the style and making all the game art (UI, character, logo, splash, etc). I also rigged and animated all the character animations, and handled most in-game sequence animations.

Thanks so much to MobilityWare, Hasbro, and especially the dev team for all the great ideas, hard work, and support!
